Fu-Tzu "Mary" Wong, 63, was crossing Huntsman Boulevard from west to east within the crosswalk when she was hit by an unidentified vehicle on Dec. 27, 2023, Fairfax County police said. Wong was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and died on Jan. 29, 2024, according to a GoFundMe page launched for her family and police.

The driver fled the scene and remains unidentified, however, on April 3, police said that writers from the automotive website Autopian tipped them off that the headlight fragments left by the fleeing car may belong to a 2008-2014 Dodge Avenger.

The publisher from the website Autopian saw the Fairfax County PD's X post on the fragments left by the fleeing vehicle and put the images out to the site’s active all-things-auto community.

The GoFundMe for Mary's family said she lost her husband in 2021 and has been caring for their children, Jeanie and David, by herself.

"Mary is a loving mother who is kind hearted, caring, and a very loyal Christian who has been a big part of her church community," the campaign says. "After her husband passed away, she had to commute via the metro to work to continue providing for her family."

Mary was coming home form work when she was struck by the vehicle, those who knew her said. She suffered trauma to the brain, multiple fractures in the spine.
